Career and Leadership Development
Digital Media Caucus (DMC) – Student Committee
Joining the DMC allows students to develop leadership skills, advocate for their peers, and influence important decisions. It fosters a sense of community, empowers underrepresented voices, and provides valuable experience in teamwork and communication, all while helping to create a more inclusive and responsive school environment.
The DMC will represent the MDM student population at SFU’s Graduate Student Society Meetings and provide direction as to how student fees are used.
CDM Mentorship Program
The CDM Mentorship Program aims to connect students with alumni to guide them in preparing for life after graduation.
An info session will be scheduled at a later time.
Additional Mentorship Programs
- SFU Faculty of Communication, Art, and Technology runs their own mentorship program where MDM students are eligible to apply.
- ADP List is a global mentorship platform that connects mentors and mentees, aiming to democratize access to mentorship for all.

DMED 530: Internships Course
This course is mandatory for all MDM students and is designed to support your career exploration and preparation for work in the digital media industry. Throughout the term, you’ll engage in mandatory assignments and online workshops focused on professional development. You’ll also receive career-focused mentorship from a key faculty member. While you’re encouraged to seek full-time work, co-op placements, internships, or similar opportunities, securing a job is not a requirement for this course. This is a preparatory course to help you get ready to find employment in the digital media field.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: You must have a co-op work permit to be able to work full-time hours. |
