There are occasions in which students need to take a leave of absence. We are here to support you should you need to consider this option.
Requesting an Academic Leave
Review SFU’s policy on academic leave.
International Students: you must also consult with an International Student Advisor about the status of your study permit while on leave. It is the student’s responsibility to understand the implications of taking a leave.
Talk to CDM’s Programs and Student Services Manager for approval.
Complete a Leave of Absence Request form.
Submit completed form to Programs and Student Services Manager.
Awards & Scholarships
An MDM student who holds an award and whose terms and conditions are established by the CDM will be permitted to retain the full value of the award. It will be suspended at the onset of leave and reinstated at the termination of the leave period. Other awards are subject to the terms and conditions established by the donor or granting agency.
Coming Back
Because the MDM program is cohort-based, students can only return to the same term the following year. They must notify CDM of their intention to return before their leave ends. Failure to do so will result in withdrawal from the program.
