Once you pass the interview…
Create an account in SFU’s application system, goGRAD.
When advised by CDM Student Services, you will need to create an account through goGrad and formally submit an application through Simon Fraser University’s system. Please select “Digital Media Graduate Special Student”. The program is under “Communication, Art and Technology”.
- Pay the non-refundable application fee of $150 (CAD). This payment must be received and processed before moving on to the next step. As processing can take 3-4 business days, it’s important to complete this step early.
- Submit all required documents and forms listed through goGRAD. Please note you will be prompted to submit your current transcript.
- Once you receive a formal offer letter, you will be required to submit a deposit of $250 (CAD). This will later be used to deduct the total amount owed from your tuition and fees.
Activate your SFU Computing ID and access goSFU.
SFU will e-mail instructions on how to activate your SFU computing ID in order to log into goSFU.
- goSFU is a student information system where you will be able to pay for your student fees such as your U-Pass (monthly transit pass) and see your grades.
Apply for a Visitor Visa (if necessary)
As you will only be studying in Canada for 4 months, you do not need a study permit. However, you are responsible for obtaining any other immigration documents that may be required for travel, such as a travel visa.

Pay your tuition and student fees through goSFU
CDM Student Services will enroll you in your courses. Once you have been notified that you are enrolled, your tuition and student fees will appear.
Arrival
Get your SFU ID, Purchase a Compass Card, and get your monthly U-Pass transit pass.
- You will need to load your card every month.
- You must bring your SFU ID when using your U-Pass.
Review your class schedule and complete our forms.
